I have been searching for Fraziers in the Baptismal Books and am not finding them other than those married to Presbyterians or Episcopalians. Was there a Roman Catholic church at Santee and if so What was the name of it. I have most of the records that have been posted .
Thanks

Yes there was. It wasn't there very long. I don't remember the name I was told, but will check and see if I can come up with it. I was also told that the old records went to a church in a town nearby. Let me do some back checking on this.

I remember reading in the 8th landing The yankton sioux Meet lewis and clark , that The Catholic diocese would send a priest from Marty to Santee to hold services or conduct rites. Before they established a Catholic Church at Santee, the services would be held in the homes of the members.I have been told that the records of the early marriages, etc. may be at the Catholic church in Verdigree,NE. the address there is 409 South 3rd street. the phone numbers to call are 402-668-2331(call before 11 AM), or402-668-2805.

I have a little baptismal info, mostly of the John Frazier (Hanyetuduta) decendents. Joseph (Jack) Frazier was baptized by Father Ravoux in 1847, and was listed in the 1850 MN census as "white" and living on his own property near Redwing. By this time he had left his Indian family and married a Metis woman. John Frazier never professed any form of Chritianity, but all of his offspring were either Congregationalists, Presbyterians, or Episcopalians. There were baptisms by the Roman Catholics at Ft. Snelling and Davenport. If you don't already have these, I'll resurrect some of my notes and share them with you.

debunci53: go tot he section that has church records and look for listing of Santee Agency baptismal Register 1842-1904. You should find some Frazier Baptisms you are looking for there. Re. Tepee and the church, contact Vicky at Jandv@inebraska.com as she has the copyright on the book.

Thanks so much I just love reading the posts on this website. Check the Thread ??LINEAL DESCENDANT RESEARCH?? Joseph Jack Frazer? Fraizer? We are Cousins's as Charles Frazier is my GG Grampa as well. The Spelling of the Frazier name has changed from James Fraser (Jack's dad) to Joseph "Jack" Frazer to John Frazier. If you have any questions send me a pm.
